Believe it or not, the spaghetti tree story was reprised on campus when I was a student (but with banana trees, in Ethiopia). I was there in an auditorium full of gulls waiting for the penny to drop. People in the know were eating their sleeves and their eyes were watering in desperation as they struggled to avoid letting the cat out of the bag. It really should have been filmed, but, alas, it was a generation ago. Funnily enough, at the time I had no idea that it had been done before.
