Guffaw Du Jour

Perhaps only geeks already up on the back story will appreciate this update on Groklaw about SCO, a steadily shrinking company that tried to hold much of the IT world to ransom and to blacken the prospects of success for Linux. Its failure has been like an enjoyable case of bad guys getting their comeuppance, only it’s dragged on a bit too long.

In response to a suggestion that it was time to bid on eBay for memorabilia from this evil venture, including CEO Darl’s McBride’s swivel chair, one reader replied:

toxic. Authored by: tce on Monday, December 07 2009 @ 11:28 PM EST Not with a 10 foot pole. Not with a mouse. Not in my house. Not with a metal shredder. Not with a pick and shovel. Not. Not. Not. Would be happy to help pay for a data recovery biz to do an extract. - safety first.

McBride has been a Darth Vader-grade hate figure for some, and is widely-believed to have been a cat’s paw for Microsoft.
