The British Library wants to make a snapshot of how Britain uses email, for use by historians in the future. A lot of socially and historically important email is lost already. I have lost a thread of messages from the 1980s, recalled here, which describes an international effort, coordinated by email, to track down a particular girl. If a technology can be put to romantic use… it will be.
