Let’s Tax Widebodied Airline Passengers

Why those carrying excess baggage around their waistlines should pay more for their air travel. In Britain this would help reduce binge drinking and associated crime, reduce the cost of the national health service and help reduce global warming.

Deferred Gratification

Writing about food yesterday inspired me to make sure Anthony Bourdain’s The Nasty Bits survived the recent book purge; 5 large boxes went to the nearest Oxfam shop after my shipment arrived. I read and hugely enjoyed Kitchen Confidential and A Cook’s Tour, and I’m keeping The Nasty Bits for a holiday.
