Who seriously believes Vista is as good as it ought to be?
Bill Gates thinks the I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC ads are unfair. In fact, the blue screen of a crashed Windows machine projected in the Bird’s Nest stadium during the Beijing olympics said it all. Apple isn’t successfully misleading consumers, it’s giving them a simpler and more reliable alternative (most of the time!).

There has been a lot of chatter on the net lately about Gartner saying that Microsoft Windows is collapsing under its own weight. Elsewhere there are claims that this is why it’s desperate to buy Yahoo. Windows and Office are the cash cows and they are looking vulnerable, supposedly.

I am writing this, a little reluctantly, using an impressive offline blogging tool called Microsoft Live Writer. My misgivings arise in part because I am unhappy with Microsoft’s attempts to bundle extra software and get it onto my computer. The installation for Live Writer offers first this
