My brother in law gave me some grief recently for having recommended Vista to him a couple of years ago. I had suggested that he postpone a computer purchase until it was available. He did, and it wasn’t a happy experience. His printer stopped printing etc.

Bye Bye Vista
I reformatted another Vista PC at home and installed Ubuntu the other day. That still leaves 4 PCs running Vista, including a personal video recorder or PVR.

Who seriously believes Vista is as good as it ought to be?
Bill Gates thinks the I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC ads are unfair. In fact, the blue screen of a crashed Windows machine projected in the Bird’s Nest stadium during the Beijing olympics said it all. Apple isn’t successfully misleading consumers, it’s giving them a simpler and more reliable alternative (most of the time!).

Today I discovered a delightful little gadget that does a small job beautifully. It’s WebGuide, shown at the bottom in the image to the right.
